Musuan PEAK Incubator

The TBIU/ATBI assists technology-oriented entrepreneurs and MSMEs in their firms' start-up and early development stage by providing workspace, shared facilities, and comprehensive business support service for the end goal of technology commercialization. It also enhances the course of doing business for micro and small enterprises in the community by providing services necessary for its success.

The incubation initiative is developed based on the need to commercialize research-based technologies generated in the university and outside technologies. This is a way of responding to RA 10055 or the Technology Transfer Act, mandating the institutions researching to look into technology transfer. Through the CMU-ATBI, it is aimed that the CMU research-generated technologies will be commercialized and will become available to the consumers.

Objectives

Musuan PEAk Incubator aims to provide technology-based start-up businesses and ‘would-be’ entrepreneurs with the necessary services to commercialize a technology.

It further aims to:

1.    Commercialized research-generated technology in the university;

2.   Accelerate the development of technology generators from the ‘idea stage’ to an independent, self-sustaining successful business;

3.   Nurture and assist start-up or early-stage enterprises in ensuring business sustainability;

4.   Establish networking between and among the entrepreneurs and the different sectors to warrant business success.

5.   Generate employment through the creation of jobs from new business ventures;

6.   Add value to the economic infrastructure of the community; and

7.   Attract local, national, and foreign investors for start-ups.

The CMU-ATBI facilitates the creation of startup enterprises by bringing new products, technology, or service to the market and assisting in upscaling and upgrading existing startups through its essential functions critical in achieving the enterprise’s commercial success.

The CMU-TBI proudly stands its business name as Musuan PEAK Incubator. The term was coined from the famous landmark of CMU, the Musuan PEAK, where its core function is providing business services to startups. The PEAK stands for the services it offers namely:

Product Commercialization

• Sales and marketing tools and training

• Assistance in the pilot production of a product or process

Enterprise Development

• Common space (meeting rooms, reception lobby, and eating areas)

• Common services (secretarial support and shared use of office equipment)    

• Incubator space (office, manufacturing, lab, or sales, which is made available on a flexible, affordable, and temporary basis)

Access to Networks

• Musuan PEAK Incubator serves as a reference point between and among entrepreneurs, mentors, and other stakeholders of the program within and outside the local community.

• Assist  the Incubatee in applying for business  financing and grants

Knowledge Transfer

The Musuan PEAK Incubator provides capability building including rigid training on the technology chosen and training for the development of entrepreneurial skills specifically in operation, marketing, organizational and financial management.

The selection and admission of incubatees have two stages, pre-incubation and incubation. Anybody who wants to venture into business may join the pre-incubation stage and be called pre-incubatees by following the procedure shown below.

After the individual satisfies the pre-incubatee selection criteria he/she may enroll as incubatee and will then undergo the incubation process following the steps shown below.
