Technology Transfer Unit (TTU)

Functions of TTU

The Technology Transfer Unit (TTU) facilitates the transfer of registered technologies to end-users either through deployment, extension, or commercialization.  Specifically, it carries out the following functions:

1. Provide IP valuation services to assess the IP assets and determine their worth or value;

2. Secure the Freedom to Operate Certificate (FTO) for government-funded research;

3. Undertake commercialization negotiations with investors for licensing, spin-off, start-up, direct sale, and other modes of technology  transfer;

4. Secure the Fairness Opinion Report (FOR) from an independent body to be constituted by the Secretary of DOST to ensure that the negotiated transaction is fair to the government; and

5. In collaboration with TBIU, facilitate training and actual pitching with prospective investors

Technology Transfer refers to the process by which one party systematically transfers to another party the knowledge for the manufacture of the product, the application of a process, or the rendering of a service, which may involve the transfer, assignment or licensing of IPRs.
