Organic Fertilizer Commercialization Through Technology Transfer

Through Technology Transfer Unit (TTU), the Utility Model (UM) entitled: A Composition of Organic Fertilizer Capable of Enhancing Soil Organic Matters was the first technology to be commercialized. It was later named EFJL Kompost Organic Fertilizer. This was developed by Dr. Fe Lagas, a faculty researcher from the College of Agriculture, CMU. The technology has a granted UM certificate from IPOPHL which was made possible through the assistance of CMU IPTBM. On account of its potential marketability, the technology was subjected to Fairness Opinion Report (FOR) application. The FOR is an assessment of whether a proposed technology transfer agreement between a Research and Development Institute (RDI) and a technology adopter or business is fair to the government. The CMU IPTBM facilitated the application of the FOR. Two meetings were conducted with the FOB of the DOST Region 10 for this endeavor. It was decided by the FOB that the FOR will be granted to the technology of Dr. Lagas. The product was later named as EFJL Kompost Organic Fertilizer.

As of now, there is one technology with continuing commercialization by CMU IPTBM and two technologies with commercialization agreements and subject to Fairness Opinion Board (FOB) review.
