National Innovation Day is an annual event held every 21st of April and is celebrated week-long. The purpose of this event is to acknowledge new ideas, and discoveries, and interact with investors, stakeholders, and inventors from different universities in Mindanao. This is also an opportunity for companies to exhibit and pitch their products to the public.

The said event was joined by representatives from Central Mindanao University (CMU): Dr. Vellorimo J. Suminguit, CMU-IPTBM Director; Dr. Gamaliela A. Dumancas, CMU-IPTBM Chief of Technology Transfer Unit; Associate Professor Shiela C. Poonon, CMU-IPTBM Chief of Technology Business Incubator; Dr. Queenie Ann Curayag, Director of Food Research Development Center (FRDC); and Ms. Jewel Angelique D. Panadero, Science Research Assistant of IPTBM Phase II. The ingress of the exhibitors started at 7:00 am followed by the registration of participants at 10:00 am. The program opened with the welcome remarks and acknowledgment of participants given by Almer R. Masillones, Provincial Director, DTI-Misamis Oriental. This was followed by the ribbon cutting and press conference of the stakeholders.

On the first day of the event, the Central Mindanao University- Agri-based Technology Business Incubator (CMU-ATBI) led by Prof. Poonon, presented their promotional video showcasing their accomplishments, services, and initiatives in the region. This video presentation was joined by Sea Cucumber R&D Center, Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center (NMFIC), Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), Cagayan de Oro - Business Incubation Technology Entrepreneurship and Startups (CDO-BITES), IDEYA Center of Innovation and Technopreneurship (IDEYA), Innovation thru Leveraging Industry, Government, Academe Networks and Inclusive Community Engagements (ILIGANICE), and Optimizing Regional Opportunities for Business Excellence through Science, Technology (OROBEST) Innovation. Moreover, in the afternoon, the FRDC led by Dr. Curayag also presented a promotional video on their development center and facility. This was joined by other regional food innovation centers such as Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center (NMFIC) and Northwestern Mindanao State College Science and Technology- Food Innovation Center (NMSCST-FIC).

The booth assigned to CMU was also alternatively manned by CMU affiliates since the program was simultaneously held with booth exhibits. The CMU booth showcased the CMU IPTBM, CMU ATBI, and FRDC’s accomplishments, services, and innovations. Every invited institution, government agency, and private companies have its booths that also exhibit their products and innovations. Some also were able to sell their goods as part of their goal to promote their products at the said event.
